2GO Group Inc. has launched its Asinan crossdock facility – its largest to date – located at the SM Warehouse complex along C-5 Extension, La Huerta, Parañaque City.
With a total area of 11,000 square meters, 2GO Asinan can accommodate 2,500 pallets, enough to accommodate huge volumes of fast-moving consumer goods shipments to Mega Manila, North Luzon, and South Luzon customers, the company said.
A crossdock is a facility where inbound trucks unload a supplier’s goods that are loaded onto outbound trucks for direct distribution to customers or retail chains, with marginal to no handling or storage time.
“The location of our Asinan crossdock facility really shows the synergy and support that the SM Group is giving to 2GO. The group really believes that logistics is a very, very important sector in the growth of the Philippine economy,” 2GO chairman, president, and chief executive Frederic C. DyBuncio said in a statement.
“And that’s why we decided to invest even more in the logistics space,”
2GO logistics and distribution business unit head Anna Vicencio emphasized the importance of location.
“Location is key to achieving supply chain efficiency, and Asinan provides us with the site’s proximity to the Skyway, SLEX, and Cavitex. Given this, we thought it best to integrate our operations for Mega Manila and South Luzon all in one place.”
“With the opening of this new facility, we will be able to move goods – both food and non-food – faster and more efficiently and, in effect, provide better quality of service to our customers,” she said.
2GO, a subsidiary of SM Investments Corp., provides integrated transportation and logistics services with five business units, namely, 2GO Sea Solutions, 2GO Special Containers, 2GO Logistics, 2GO Express, and 2GO Distribution.
