Vietnam’s exports increase 5.4% to $97B in first 7 months

CohoariansThe total export volume of Vietnam rose to US$96.99 billion in value in the first seven months of the year, up 5.4% against the same period last year, according to just-released data from the General Department of Viet Nam Customs.

Exports in the second half of July grew to $7.7 billion, up 6.7% from the first half of the month.

Imports in the same seven-month period amounted to $94.74 billion worth of goods, down 1.2% against the same period last year.

In the second half of July imports surpassed $7.06 billion, down 3.3% compared to the first half of the same month.

Meanwhile, total trade turnover in the first seven months of 2016 added up to nearly $191.73 billion, a 2% improvement on the same period last year, the customs agency said.

From January to July, trade turnover of the foreign direct investment sector was valued at nearly $123.14 billion, presenting a year-on-year growth of 3.5% and accounting for 64.2% of the national total figure.

In the second half of July, trade turnover surpassed $14.76 billion, up 1.7% against the first half of the month.
