The United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) and China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) have partnered to launch a weekly intra-Asia service later this month that will provide direct coverage from Japan to China and Thailand.

The new Intra Asia Container Service (IAC1) will set sail from September 21 and will cover Japan, South Korea, Central and South China, and Thailand.

It will operate under a vessel sharing agreement (VSA), with CSCL deploying three vessels and UASC deploying one, with a combined weekly capacity of 2,600 TEUs (20-foot-equivalent units).

UASC’s vessel will be phased in on October 12, 2013 in Busan, South Korea, the company said in a statement.

The IAC1 will have this port rotation: Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Busan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Shekhou, Laem Chabang, Nansha, Hong Kong, Shekou, Xiamen, and back to Tokyo.

UASC said the service will offer attractive weekend cutoffs from major ports such as Busan, Hong Kong, Shekou, Laem Chabang, Xiamen, and Nagoya.
