ID-100142872The Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines (CTAP) has cut its guide rates by 10% effective April 15.

The last time CTAP issued guide rates was on March 15, 2014, when it had jacked these up by 50% due to the slow truck turnaround as a result of the Manila truck ban.

Participants to a forum organized by the Port Users Confederation on April 21, however, said the 10% cut is not enough.

CTAP argued that despite lower oil prices, parts and maintenance costs have increased as well as garage rentals, the latter by as much as 50%.

The Export Development Council earlier issued Resolution No. 2-2015 urging truckers to restore their rates to pre-port congestion levels. – Roumina Pablo
