PH international airfreight volume hits 136M kg in first half

Nippon Express leads the pack

The Philippines’ international airfreight cargo reached 136.452 million kilograms (kg) in the first six months of the year, according to latest data from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).

Of the total, 44.9% were accounted for by consolidations, 41.2% breakbulk, and 14% direct shipments.

The figures represent total imports and exports.

No comparative figures were released by CAB.

Nippon Express Philippines, Inc emerged as the top international airfreight forwarder for the period, handling 20.02% or 27.322 million kg of the total volume. The company is a consistent market leader, lording over other Philippine international airfreight forwarders in the first quarter of the year.

DHL Global Forwarding (Philippines) followed with 10.344 million kg or 7.58% of the total.

In third place was Kintetsu World Express Phil Inc, which accounted for 6% of the aggregate or 8.190 million kg; in fourth place, Yusen Logistics Phils Inc with 7.949 million kg or 5.83% of the total; and in fifth, Clipper Cargo Corp, 7.470 million kg or 5.47%.

Aspac International Airfreight Inc settled for sixth spot at 5.680 million kg or 4.16% of the total.

UPS-Delbros Transport, Inc came in seventh (3.960 million kg or 2.9% of the total); Schenker Philippines, Inc, eighth (3.849 million kg or 2.82%); Trans-global Consolidators, Inc, ninth (3.525 million kg or 2.58%); and Kuehne+Nagel, Inc, tenth (3.371 million kg 2.47%).

Taking the respective 11th to 20th spots were UPS SCS (Phils) Inc, with a share of 2.33%; Airfreight 2100 Inc, 2.09%; Expeditors Philippines, Inc, 1.92%; Panalpina World Transport (Phils), Inc, 1.87%; Agility International Logistics, 1.71%; NNR Global Logistics (Phils), Inc, 1.45%; Airlift Asia Inc, 1.32%; Airspeed International Corp, 1.30%; Royal Cargo Combined Logistics, 1.24%; and Nissin Transport Philippines, Inc, 1.07%.

Rounding up the top 30 international freight forwarders for the first half of 2012 were Hankyu International Transport Phils, World Alliance Freight, CEVA, U-Freight Philippines, Inc, TL Forwarding Service (Phils) Inc, Kerry ATS Logistics Inc, K Line Air Service Philippines, Inc, S-Net Freight Philippines, Inc, Skyfreight Forwarders, Inc, and Expertrans Philippines, Inc.
