PH domestic air cargo traffic up 36% in Q1

DOMESTIC air cargo traffic in the Philippines totaled 9.38 million kilograms (kgs) in the first quarter of the year, a 36% increase from last year’s 6.013 million, according to latest data from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).

Consolidations contributed 62.1% or 5.83 million kgs to the total volume while direct shipments accounted for 37.9% or 3.55 million kilograms, and breakbulking 0.04% or 3.47 million kgs.

LBC Express Inc. topped the airfreight forwarders’ cargo volume list, with a market share of 33.91% or 3.18 million kgs of combined inward and outbound cargoes, climbing from its number two position during the same period last year.

For full-year 2012, however, LBC was the number one domestic air cargo forwarder carrying 19.515 million kgs for a market share of 41.5%.

AP Cargo Logistics Network Corp, last year’s first-quarter top placer, came in second in the first quarter this year with 1.86 million kgs, or a 19.81% market share.

In third place was Airfreight 2100 Inc. with 604,256 kgs corresponding to a market share of 6.44%. In the same period last year, the company ranked second.

Kim Gold Cargo Logistics Corp came in fourth with 472,101 kgs or a 5.03% share of the total.

2GO Express Inc., the logistics arm of shipping operator 2GO Group, took the fifth spot with 412,204 kgs or 4.39%.

Completing the top 30 list are Vintel Logistics Inc., JRS Business Corp., Airlift Asia Inc., Highlight Express Phils. Inc., Ximex Delivery Express, Explorer Freight Corp., Cargo Padala Express Forwarding Service Corp., Non-Pareil International Inc., Wide Wide World Express Inc., Argo International Forwarders Inc., Germalin Enterprises Inc., Libcap Super Express Corp., TNT Express Deliveries Phils. Inc., ASP Airspeed Philippines Inc., Transglobal Consolidators Inc., CBL Courier Express International, GRM International Inc., Redgold Forwarders Inc., Pambato Cargo Forwarders, Iris Logistics Inc., CTSI Logistics Philippines Inc., American Freight Forwarders Inc., Ace Logistics Inc. and Destiny Air Cargo System.
