The Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported preliminary cash collections of P22.8 billion in February, up 2.8% year-on-year but P1.24 billion short of the P24.04 billion target.

January collections reached P24.5 billion, a little over the P24.3-billion goal.

For the first two months of the year, BOC took in P3.14 billion, a 7.1% improvement from the same period last year, according to Customs Commissioner Rozzano Rufino Biazon.

He attributed the increase to “reconfiguration strategy” or the reshuffle of some key officials early this year.

He expressed confidence the bureau will at least meet its 2013 revenue target of P340 billion with the computerization program in full operation this year.
