PH airfreight forwarders ship 9% more in H1

Cargo plane2Cargoes handled by Philippine airfreight forwarders in the first half of 2014 increased 9.4% to 23.349 million kilos from 21.352 million kilos during the same period last year, bolstered by the expansion of consolidations and direct shipments.

From January to June, consolidations accounted for the biggest share of 59.5% with 13.898 million kilos. This volume was 12.4% higher than the 12.364 million kilos of consolidations in the same period in 2013, data from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) showed.

Direct shipments, contributing 40.5% of the total, rose 5.23% to 9.449 million kilos from 8.979 million kilos in the same period last year.

Breakbulking, which had a share of only 0.01 of the total, dropped 82.01% to 1,652 kilos in the first half from 9,185 kilos year-over-year.

LBC Express, Inc. remained as the top domestic airfreight with a market share of 29.44%, or 6.875 million kilos, of the total.

Also retaining its second spot was AP Cargo Logistics Network Corp. with a 16.59% share and 3.873 million kilos of airfreight handled, while staying put yet again in third spot was Airfreight 2100 Inc. with a 7.99% share representing 1.865 million kilos.

Jumping one notch to fourth place was Kim Gold Cargo Logistics Corp. with 1.385 million kilos and a market share of 5.93%, followed by Cargo Padala Express Forwarding Service Corp., which moved five places to fifth with 1.266 million kilos of airfreight handled and a 5.42% share.

Inching up one rank to sixth was JRS Business Corp. with a 5.33% market share and 1.244 million kilos handled, followed by AAI Worldwide Logistics with 1.155 million kilos and a 4.94% share to jump two places to seventh spot.

On the other hand, dropping four ranks to eighth was 2Go Express Inc. with a 4.04% market share and 942,481 kilos of air cargo processed, while Ximex Delivery Express slipped one spot to ninth with 734,227.5 kilos and a 3.14% share.

Climbing three places to rank 10th was Wide Wide World Express Inc. with 426,793.7 kilos and a 1.83% share.

Rounding up the list of 11th to 20th places were Trans-global Consolidators, Inc. (1.66%), Highlight Express Philippines, Inc. (1.59%), Non-Pareil International, Inc. (1.44%), Fastcargo Logistics Corp. 1.34%), American Freight Forwarders, Inc. (1.3%), ASP Airspeed Philippines, Inc. (1.08%), Argo International Forwarders, Inc. (1.06%), Airspeed International Corp. (0.85%), TNT Express Deliveries Philippines, Inc. (0.84%), and Explorer Freight Corp. (0.82%).

Completing CAB’s top 30 list were CBL Courier Express International (0.64%), Iris Logistics, Inc. (0.34%), Pambato Cargo Forwarders (0.34%), GRM International Inc. (0.30%), Front Cargo Forwarders (0.22%), Redgold Forwarders, Inc. (0.21%), Skyfreight Forwarders, Inc. (0.16%), CTSI Logistics Philippines, Inc. (0.16%), Germalin Enterprises, Inc.
