PH air cargo up 17% in 2010

The Philippines’ total airfreight volume reached 275.524 million kilograms in 2010, up 17.42% from the previous year’s 234.635 million kg, according to latest data from the Civil Aeronautics Board.

Nippon Express Philippines, Corp was the country’s top airfreight forwarder for 2010, shipping 40.740 million kg and accounting for 14.78% of the total market. The company also topped the list in 2009 when it handled 31.346 million kg.

Consolidated cargoes represented the bulk of last year’s total air freight volume with a share of 43.1% followed by breakbulk cargo with 38.9%, and direct shipments with 18%. This compares to 43.3% for consolidations, 39.9% for breakbulk cargo, and 16.8% for direct shipments in 2009.

Next to Nippon Express as the country’s biggest airfreight forwarder in 2010 was DHL Global Forwarding Phils Inc. It accounted for 6.59% of the aggregate, handling 18.170 million kg from its 2009 volume of 22.659 million kg. DHL also held the number two spot in 2009.

In third place was Realmovers Forwarders, Inc with a 5.13% market share, transporting 14.133 million kg. The company showed the biggest improvement in 2010 ranking, jumping from 27th place in 2009 when it handled 1.81 million kg or a 0.77% share.

Accounting for 4.85% of the total, Kintetsu World Express (Phils), Inc was the fourth top airfreight forwarder in 2010. It transported 13.371 million kg compared to the previous year’s 11.124 million kg when it ranked third.

Yusen Air & Sea Services Philippines maintained its hold on fifth place in 2010 with a share of 4.83% or 13.307 million kg.

Rounding up the country’s top 10 international airfreight forwarders in 2010 were Best Logistics Freight Corp, which carried 11.703 million kg for a 4.24% share; Agility International Logistics, with a market share of 3.86%; Aspac International Airfreight, Inc, 3.69%; Expeditors Philippines, Inc, 3.41%; and Schenker Phils., Inc, 3.22%.

Dislodged from the top 10 last year were DSV Air & Sea Inc, Transglobal, U-Freight Philippines, Inc, and Airlift Asia, Inc, which held the seventh to tenth spots, respectively.

Other air freight forwarders in top 30 list for 2010 were Airlift Asia, Inc, Royal Cargo Combined Logistics (Seasky), U-Freight Philippines, Inc, Panalpina World Transport (Phils), Inc, Airfreight 2100, Inc, CEVA, Kuehne + Nagel, Inc, Transglobal Consolidators, Inc, Airspeed Int’l Corp, World Alliance Freight, Inc, UPS Delbros Transport Inc, DSV Air & Sea Inc, Hankyu Int’l Transport Philippines, Inc, Logwin Air+Ocean Phils. Inc (formerly Birkart), TNT Express Worldwide (Phils), Inc, CJ GLS Philippines, Inc, S-Net Freight Philippines, Inc, EMCS Philippines, Inc, and Skyfreight Forwarders, Inc.
