Supply chain service provider Panalpina has opened a branch in Ludhiana in Punjab, India, just two weeks after opening a branch in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Ludhiana in north India is home to thousands of large and medium-size companies and is one of India’s fastest growing textile cities. Indian and international companies in Ludhiana produce not only woolen goods, hosiery, knitwear and accessories, but also automobile components, bicycles and bicycle parts.

Fashion, consumer and retail, and automotive are three key industries for Panalpina, says René Wernli, managing director for Panalpina India. “Our new branch in Ludhiana is therefore a logical next step in our growth strategy for India.”

Panalpina says it offers its customers in Ludhiana a full portfolio of services including access to an extensive global air network and international ocean ports. The company also provides a strategic mix of logistics, warehousing, and overland transportation services.

Panalpina’s offices in north India are in Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, and now Ludhiana. The branch in Jaipur, Rajasthan, was opened end of September 2011. Last April, Panalpina opened a branch in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in west India.
