Supply chain solutions provider Panalpina has launched three direct less-than-container load (LCL) services through its in-house carrier Pantainer Express Line.

The new guaranteed weekly services—Shanghai to Rotterdam, Hong Kong to Rotterdam, and Singapore to Rotterdam—will provide time savings between Asia and Europe, and complement the company’s existing services into Antwerp.

Compared to previous routings, the new services will reduce transit times by two to four days and CO2 emissions by as much as 6.5 percent, said Panalpina in a news release.

The LCL shipments will arrive in Rotterdam from Shanghai, Hong Kong, or Singapore within 26, 22 or 18 days, respectively, shaving off two to four days of travel time as cargo is shipped directly instead of being routed via the LCL hub in Antwerp.

CO2 emissions will be cut by 5.3 percent between Shanghai and Rotterdam, by 5.6 percent between Hong Kong and Rotterdam, and by 6.5 percent between Singapore and Rotterdam.

“The new services are part of Panalpina’s long-term strategy to grow business on key Asia trade lanes, especially on the Far East westbound, trans-Pacific eastbound, intra-Asia, Asia to Latin America, and Asia to Middle East trade,” Panalpina said.
