JoloNorth Harbor customs collector Col. Rene Agulan has been assigned to Jolo, Sulu following the “unusual number of complaints” against him by stakeholders, according to Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials.

A Customs Personnel Order signed on May 14 ordered the detailing of Agulan to the subport of Jolo, Sulu in Mindanao as deputy collector. He will report to District Collector Enrico Turingan of the Port of Zamboanga, according to Charo Logarta-Lagamon of BOC’s Public Information and Assistance Division.

Customs Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Group Jessie Dellosa told PortCalls the agency is investigating Agulan as “he has so many offenses already and was recommended for relief.”

Complaints include holding of shipments released in exchange for “tara” (grease money), which in one case supposedly amounted to P100,000.

Carlos Ferrer has been named acting collector of North Harbor, according to Dellosa.
