Intra-Asia carrier Namsung Shipping of South Korea has ordered three 1,850-TEU container ships from an unspecified Korean shipbuilding yard for delivery in the first half of 2013.

The box ships are expected to be deployed on the Southeast Asia trade lane covering Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The new-build vessels will become the biggest in the company’s fleet, currently comprised of vessels with a capacity of 1,000 TEUs.

Namsung has decided to order 1,850-TEU vessels as they are the biggest that can be accommodated at the Bangkok port.
