MSC introduces Asia-South America East Coast route

Mediterranean Shipping Company will launch an Asia-South America East Coast (SAEC) trade lane called Ipanema that will provide a direct service between the two continents, MSC announced in a December 12, 2011 press release.

MSC said it is providing the direct service to South American ports through partnerships with existing direct service providers CSAV and CMA CGM.

The Ipanema service will have 11 vessels of capacities 5,600 to 6,500 TEUs and begins sailing on January 1, 2012 with the departure of the MV Mataquito from Busan.

Its port rotation will be Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Port Klang, Santos, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Paranagua, Santos, Durban, Port Klang, Hong Kong, Busan.
