ID-100359576Intra-Asia carrier MCC Transport has introduced a new service that provides clients in the Philippines with information and updates on their cargoes.

Officially launched on October 5, TxtPress sends SMS notifications on urgent details such as arrival of specific bills of lading and containers, detention and demurrage computation, depot schedules for empty container pullout and return, office schedule updates and holiday announcements, and other general advisories.

In an email to PortCalls, MCC said “clients in shipping are always on the go, especially the brokers who are mainly doing the processing of the shipments. These people do not have time to send an email, check the website or even make a phone call just to get the basic information of their incoming/outgoing shipments.

“These simple yet valid concerns made us develop a convenient way to provide information on the go through TxtPress.”

It added the “new service is also aligned with our goal in providing e-solutions to our clients” along with the electronic delivery order that it launched earlier this year.

As to why it chose to make announcements through SMS messaging, MCC said text messages get read more compared to emails, are received immediately, and do not require Internet connection. SMS can also provide immediate details on clients’ shipments and afford mobility to clients since they can send and receive SMS inquiries anywhere.
