MASkargo flies first halal shipment

MASkargo Sdn Bhd, the cargo subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines (MAS), has delivered its first halal consignment on MAS to the United Kingdom.

The one-tonne cargo of fresh vegetables was recently flown from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to London Heathrow Airport, MASkargo said in a statement.

It added that the airline’s air cargo division has realized the value and potential of investing in the halal market, driven by increasing demand for halal food, according to a report by Bernama.

The demand for halal food is growing, not only among Muslim consumers but also among Chinese and Japanese who want them to be transported by using the most hygienic methods, it continued.

MASkargo  received on March 2 this year a halal logistics certificate from the Islamic Chamber of Commerce-International Halal Integrity Alliance, an international organization created to uphold the integrity of the halal market in the global trade.
