Johan Sigsgaard has been named the new Managing Director of Maersk Line Philippines effective Feb 29, replacing Sylvia Ding who was transferred to another position.

As managing director, Sigsgaard will be responsible for the development and execution of strategy, overseeing sales, operations and customer service.

“One of my great passions is customer-driven innovation. Working with customers to create solutions that can actually change the way we interact and execute our services is both inspiring and value adding. I am excited to be in such a dynamic market and to have this opportunity to work at the heart of shipping,” Sigsgaard said.

Sigsgaard has a Masters Degree in Economics and Business Administration and has held various positions in the A.P. Moller Maersk Group, starting as a management trainee in Maersk Line back in 2003.

Prior to his new position, Sigsgaard was the Director in Customer Service for Maersk Line in Copenhagen, Denmark where he worked on improving Maersk Line’s commercial processes to realize the company’s vision of providing ease of doing business and superior customer experience.

“I am delighted to welcome Johan to the team. He brings over eight years of industry experience and knowledge, which will put him in a good position to drive our growth plans for the Philippines,” Thomas Knudsen, Chief Executive of Maersk Line Asia Pacific said.

“I am confident he will build on the strong organization locally to create new and successful opportunities for our customers and our company,” he added.
