Maersk Line has appointed Henrik Jensen as its new country manager for Thailand. In this role, Jensen will develop and execute the country’s business strategy, and oversee sales, operations and customer service.

Jensen, who assumed his role effective September 16, will be based in Bangkok and will report to Thomas Knudsen, the regional head of Maersk Line in Asia Pacific.

Jensen brings with him more than 20 years’ experience in the ocean liner industry, having held senior positions in Africa and Europe. He also has extensive work experience in Asia where he first headed sales, customer service, and operations in Thailand from 2000 to 2003. He then took on the role of line manager for Southeast Asia until 2008.

Most recently, he was based in Copenhagen, Denmark, for three years, where he first led the global customer service organization, and later headed a strategic project focusing on “ease of business” for Maersk Line’s customers.

“Henrik’s vast industry knowledge and familiarity with the Asian market makes him a strong asset to head our business in Thailand. His in-depth understanding of our customers’ needs will also be essential in our drive towards greater reliability, ease of business, and environmental focus,” said Knudsen.

Jensen replaces Thomas Lindy Sorensen, who will be moving to Seoul to head Maersk Line in Korea.
