LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez earlier told PortCalls the agency is doing its best to process all franchise applications of trucks-for-hire before the automatic provisional authority to operate expires on October 17. After the deadline, trucks without such authority will be subject to Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01 that penalizes illegally operating trucks with a fine of P200,000.

Ginez said LTFRB received 33,000 applications from truck operators, of which 2,145 have port-related operations. It must be noted that some of the franchise applications cover applications for more than one truck unit. – Roumina Pablo
