PH airfreight forwarders record 6.2% drop in 2014 shipments

Cargo planeCargo volumes handled by domestic airfreight forwarders declined 6.2% in 2014 to 53.852 million kilograms (kg) from 57.393 million kg in 2013, mainly due to a decrease in direct shipments, according to the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).

Accounting for 43.8% of the total 2014 volume, direct shipments dropped 20.8% to 23.951 million kg last year from 30.227 million kg in 2013, latest data from CAB showed.

Consolidations, on the other hand, jumped 10% to 29.859 million kg from 27.133 million kg in the previous year. Consolidations contributed the bulk of the total at 56.1%. Break bulk shipments likewise improved 29.1% to 42,069 kg from 32,578 kg in 2013.

Top domestic airfreight forwarders

LBC Express, Inc. remained the top domestic airfreight forwarder for 2014, handling 13.541million kg for a market share of 25.15%. Upgraded one spot from 2013 to second place in 2014 was AP Cargo Logistics Network Corp, which airlifted 8.115 million kg (15.07% share), followed by Airfreight 2100, Inc., which also improved one spot, with 5.39 million kg (10.01%).

Jumping to fourth place last year from ninth in 2013 was Cargo Padala Express Forwarding Service Corp. with 3.212 million kg (5.96%), while Wide Wide World Express, Inc. improved to fifth from 10th place with 2.816 million kg (5.23) lifted a year ago.

Dropping one place to sixth in 2014 was Kim Gold Cargo Logistics Corp. with 2.603 million kg (4.83%), followed by JRS Business Corp., which stepped up one spot with 2.565 million kg (4.76%).

AAI Worldwide Logistics, which carried 2.184 million kg (4.05%), improved to eighth spot from 12th followed by 2Go Express, Inc. which dropped to ninth place from sixth with 1.726 million kg (3.21%).

Vintel Logistics, Inc., which fell three spots with 1.435 million kg (2.66%), completes the top 10.

Rounding up the list from 11th place to 20th are Ximex Delivery Express (2.63%); Libcap Super Express Corp. (1.78%); Non-Pareil International Inc. (1.63%); Trans-global Consolidators, Inc. (1.61%); Highlight Express Philippines, Inc. (1.42%); Fastcargo Logistics Corp. (1.40%); ASP Airspeed Philippines, Inc. (1.20%); American Freight Forwarders, Inc. (1.19%); Argo International Forwarders, Inc. (0.94%); and TNT Express Deliveries Phils., Inc. (0.76%).

Completing the CAB’s top 30 domestic airfreight forwarders are Airspeed International Philippines, Inc. (0.68%); Germalin Enterprises, Inc. (0.63%); CBL Courier Express International (0.46%); Explorer Freight Corp. (0.40%); Pambato Cargo Forwarders (0.36%); GRM International Inc. (0.29%); Iris Logistics Inc. (0.21%); Front Cargo Forwarders (0.19%); Agility Logistics Distribution, Inc. (0.17%); and Skyfreight Forwarders, Inc. (0.12%). – Roumina Pablo
