Kuehne + Nagel taps into ASEAN with new Singapore warehouse

Singapore_Skyline_in_the_MorningSwiss forwarder Kuehne + Nagel took further steps to bolster its regional expansion plans in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) market with the recent launch of its Singapore logistics hub for high-growth industries.

The 50,000-square-meter facility located in west Singapore is the company’s “largest investment outside Europe and represents our long-term commitment to the market,” said Klaus-Michael Kuehne, group honorary chairman.

“The new facility provides the necessary end-to-end, value-added supply chain capabilities to support our customers through Asia’s complex trade and logistics landscape,” he added.

Located near pharmaceutical and healthcare hubs, major manufacturers, and ports, the facility provides 46,000 square meters of warehousing space. It will also serve as a regional center of excellence for the high-tech, industrial, pharmaceutical, and healthcare sectors, offering supply chain and value chain solutions.

More than 40% the new logistics hub has been furnished with advanced chilled storage, redressing, and postponement facilities to support the growing base of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies operating in Asia, said the company. In combination with Kuehne + Nagel’s logistics solution, KN PharmaChain, the Singapore hub completes the firm’s regional offering to provide a one-stop end-to-end supply chain solution to the industry.

In addition, the new hub will include the global logistics provider’s  first center of excellence for logistics innovation in the region. Dr. Detlef Trefzger, CEO of the group, said: “The center of excellence will allow us to work alongside our customers and partners in developing technologies and business strategies that are pragmatic and enhance supply chain efficiencies.”
