Taiwan’s Evergreen Line is joining forces with China’s Cosco Container Lines and Israel-based Zim Integrated Shipping Services to upgrade its Far East-South America (ESA) service, providing bigger ships and adding port calls.

The revamped service linking China, Singapore, and the East Coast of South America will begin May 11.

In a statement, Evergreen Line said a total of 10 ships, each with a capacity of 8,500 TEUs (20-foot-equivalent units), will be deployed on the ESA, replacing the existing fleet of 3,000-TEU vessels. Evergreen Line will provide five ships, Cosco three, and ZIM two.

Additional calls will be made at the Brazilian ports of Rio Grande and Itapoa.

The revised rotation will be Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Santos, Paranagua, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Itapoa, Santos, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
