Evergreen_container_shipTaiwanese carrier Evergreen Line is introducing two new intra-Asia services this month.

“In light of the strong growth potential of the Intra-Asia trades, Evergreen Line is implementing service enhancements for its services to/from Southeast Asian markets,” said the company in a written statement.

The carrier will first launch its new Taiwan-Shekou-Malacca Strait Service (TSS) around the middle of March, deploying three ships in the 1,600-TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) class. The new loop will connect Taiwan, Southern China, Singapore, and Malaysia.

The weekly service will have an inaugural sailing from Kaohsiung on March 19. The port rotation will then follow as Hong Kong, Shekou, Port Klang, Penang, Port Klang, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, and Kaohsiung.

This service string will not only provide an efficient link for regional trade but also connect into the global networks of Evergreen Line and its alliance partners via hubs at Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tanjung Pelepas, said the shipping line.

Later this month, Evergreen Line will be introducing a dedicated Taiwan-Hong Kong Service (THK) that will employ a 1,200-TEU vessel.

With the maiden voyage from Hong Kong scheduled for March 25, the weekly service will then have a port rotation of Taichung, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, and back to Taichung.

The new service aims to improve frequency between Taiwan and Hong Kong and increase connectivity to Evergreen’s global network. Moreover the service will provide a “Blue Way” coastal feeder option between Taichung, Taipei, and Kaohsiung to significantly reduce the demand for trucking across Taiwan.
