The REX 3 service will complement the existing REX 2 service, which focuses on the northern ports of Jeddah, Sokhna, and Aqaba in the Red Sea. The new service will connect Asia to the Red Sea’s southern ports via Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Through the call in Colombo, the REX 3 service will provide full coverage of the South Indian markets via the Marseilles-based shipping liner’s feeder network.
The new string will also offer the fastest transit time from Asia to Port Sudan, taking 28 days from Shanghai to Port Sudan, and some of the best transit times to the Ethiopian market via Djibouti and to Aden, a company statement said.
The service starts on May 2 and will have this schedule: Port Klang, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Djibouti, Aden, Jeddah, Port Sudan, Djibouti, Colombo, and back to Port Klang.
