Cargo volume handled at Singapore Changi Airport fell in July year-over-year, company statistics show.

Changi saw shipments decrease by 4.5 percent to 152,900 tonnes last month from 160,120 tonnes in July 2011.

The decline came after the airport posted a 0.1 percent rise in cargo throughput in June 2012, registering 153,330 tonnes.

Year-to-date, cargo throughput at Changi, the world’s largest cargo airport by tonnage in 2011, contracted by 1.6 percent to 1.05 million tonnes from 1.06 million tonnes for the corresponding period last year.

As of August 1 this year, 100 airlines operate at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to more than 220 cities in 60 countries around the world.
