CEBU Pacific (CEB) posted an all-time high passenger volume in April, boosting the budget airline’s hopes of flying 10 million passengers this year.

Last year, CEB flew 8.7 million passengers.

CEB carried 906,118 passengers in April, breaking the earlier month’s record of 857,041 passengers.

In the next five years, CEB is allotting about $1.4 billion to boost its fleet to 51 aircraft from the current 29.

Three new Airbus A320s are set to be delivered this year and another three next year. Four planes are also set to arrive by 2012, seven by 2013 and five by 2014.

Last year, the budget carrier accounted for 51% of the domestic air travel market or 6% higher than its 45% share in 2008.

The international market leader is still flag carrier Philippine Airlines, which has a wider network of routes abroad.

CEB flies to 33 domestic and 14 international destinations.
