Philippine budget airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) recently launched three international flights — from Manila to Hanoi, Kalibo-Hong Kong and Manila-Xiamen and vice versa.

“In the past two to three years, relations of the two countries have seen marked improvement. Now that CEB is flying direct to Hanoi, it is adding to the betterment of people-to-people connection. It will facilitate trade, business and investment between two countries,” Vietnam’s ambassador to Manila Nguyen Vu Tu said during the launch of the Manila-Hanoi maiden flight.

CEB president Lance Gokongwei said the flights reinforce the airline’s commitment to continue expanding links between the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region.

The addition of Hanoi makes it easier for the Vietnamese to enjoy the shopping, eco-adventure and entertainment attractions that the Philippines has to offer, Gokongwei added.

For Manila-Hanoi, flights depart at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays and arrive 12:30 a.m. Return flights leave Hanoi 1 a.m. on the same days and arrive in Manila at 3 a.m. Wednesday and Sunday.

The Kalibo-Hong flight leaves at 2:35 pm, arriving at 5:05pm. The return flight leaves Hong Kong at 5:50 pm and arrives in Kalibo at 8:20 pm.

The Manila-Xiamen flight leaves at 11:20 pm and arrives at 01:35 am. The return flight leaves at 2:25 am and arrives at 4:40 am.

The two new China routes are thrice-weekly services.

CEB has flown over 60 million passengers in its 16 years of operations.
