Specific measures being undertaken by different government agencies to solve congestion at Manila ports are the subject of the Cargo Transport Summit 2 being organized by the Philippine International Seafreight Forwarders Association and PortCalls on July 15, 2014 at the Midas Hotel and Casino Tent Hall 1.

The half-day summit (1 to 6pm) themed “Government Measures to Address Logistics Challenges”, is a follow up to the discussion on transport problems by the private sector conducted in April.

A highlight will be a free-wheeling discussion on a wide range of industry concerns between government officials and summit participants.

Up for discussion are such issues as the importer and customs broker accreditation at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), penalties for illegally operating public utility vehicles, port congestion and the truck ban.

Guests include Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chairman Atty Winston Ginez and BOC Deputy Commissioner for Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group Atty Agaton Uvero.

Representatives from the BIR, Manila city hall, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Philippine Economic Zone Authority and Philippine Ports Authority have also been invited.
