APL Logistics, the freight-forwarding arm of Neptune Orient Lines, opened two quality assurance centers in Bangladesh to capitalize on the growing apparel sector in the south Asian country.

The first center is a 30,500-square-foot facility in Dhaka;  the second is located in the company’s container freight station (CFS) in Chittagong. The 115,000-square-foot CFS facility is close to the Port of Chittagong and Chittagong-based suppliers of garments.

With the new centers, the Singapore-based logistics company said customers can centralize quality assurance activities that are currently performed across various factories involving multiple quality-assurance staff. The new facilities also offer scanning and pick-and-pack labeling.

“Channeling shipments through [these centers] opens up new opportunities for growth, particularly in the fast-growing apparel sector,” said Siddharth Adya, APL Logistics’ managing director for South Asia.
