Preparations for SCMAP’s Annual Conference are going full blast, with less than two months to go. The schedule is as follows:

  • Date               Sept. 13-14, 2012
  • Venue            Makati Shangri-la Hotel
  • Theme           Navigating Supply Chain’s Perfect Storm: Supply Chain Philippines

Conference Chairperson Cora Curay expects a bigger audience this year, 400 to 500, versus 280 to 300 last year. Also at least 16 topics will be lined up, versus 14 last year. The venue of Makati Shangri-la is a first time, which is +30% bigger than the EDSA Shangri-La, venue of several past years.

This year’s conference will also feature two activities already introduced last year:

  • CEO/CSCO Forum
  • Salute to Supply Chain Excellence

The theme deserves some explanation

  • The storm scene is familiar to all of us: limited demand visibility, fluctuating supply, complex processes, unreasonable service level required, at unrealistic cost considerations
  • The stakes are definitely high, the rewards great, and the penalty greater
  • SCMAP’s conference will navigate through this reality of supply chain Philippines

Running through the SCOR model of Plan – Source – Make – Deliver – Return – Enable, SCMAP pursues its thrusts

  • Advocate. How do Philippine supply chain conditions compare relative to other emerging markets and developed markets? How do we influence them to be at par or better?
  • Communicate. What are the emerging technologies and initiatives in supply chain? What are the best practices we ought to implement? Are there success stories that can inspire Philippine companies?
  • Educate. How are corporate training, the school system and independent training and / or consultancy companies coping with the demands for better, more flexible supply chains?

With the lineup of speakers not yet finalized, below are some of the speakers and topics, some confirmed, some tentative.
